Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I commission a Pet Portrait?

Simply visit my Commissions Page or email me at clareharmanart@gmail.com to discuss your pet portrait. I’ll guide you through the whole process, including selecting a photo and choosing a size.

2. What kind of photos do you need?

Clear, well-lit photos taken at eye level work best. The more detail I can see, the more lifelike your portrait will be! I’m happy to help you choose the right one.

3. Do you only draw dogs and cats?

Not at all! I create portraits of all animals—horses, cows, birds, and even wildlife. If you have something unique in mind, feel free to ask.

4. How long does a portrait take to complete?

Typically between 3–6 weeks depending on size, complexity, and current waiting list. If you need it for a specific date, please get in touch early.

5. Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes, beautifully packaged physical and digital e-gift vouchers are available in my shop. They make perfect presents for animal lovers.

6. What size options do you offer?

Most popular sizes include A4 and A3, but I can also accommodate custom sizes—just get in touch!

7. What materials do you use?

I use only the highest quality materials to ensure every pet portrait is both rich in colour and long-lasting. For all the fine detail work, I use Faber-Castell pastel pencils and Sennelier pastels are my go to for the larger areas of the piece, which gives the piece a lovely vibrancy.

Each piece is created on Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper, which holds the pigment beautifully and enhances the depth of colour. Together, these premium materials help create artwork that you’ll be able to treasure for many years to come.

8. Can I request multiple pets in one portrait?

Yes! I can combine multiple animals into one piece, even if they’re from separate photos. It may take longer and there is a small extra cost of €100 per additional pet.

9. Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I ship worldwide. All artwork is securely packaged to arrive safely wherever you are. Please contact me for more details. Additional costs will be incurred for deliveries outside of the Republic of Ireland.

10. What if I don’t like the final portrait?

Having a happy customer is very important to me. I can send progress updates, and small changes can be made before finalising. I aim to make sure you're completely happy with your Pet Portrait.

11. How and when do I pay?

For all pet portrait commissions I require a 25% deposit. This is due when I've confirmed all details with you and start your piece. Payment can be made either by bank transfer, Revolut or through my shop.

The final balance is paid on completion.

If you need any help or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch, I'll be happy to help!
