I'm Clare Harman, an artist based in beautiful West Cork, Ireland.
I have a huge love for creating realistic pet portraits, animal and wildlife art.
It's so important to me to capture what makes your pet so special to you. Whether you're celebrating your companion or remembering a much-loved pet, I take great care in every portrait to honour what makes them so special. I try to capture those little quirks and expressions that pet owners know so well—the ones that make you feel like they’re right there with you.
My journey into pet portraiture began a few years ago
when we had to say goodbye to our best friend and
amazing dog Titan. It honestly broke my heart and I
still don't go by without shedding a tear when I think
about him. He was wonderful with our kids and more
importantly, he was part of our family. When he died I
wanted to do something special to remind us of him. I
love art and have enjoyed spending most of my life
drawing or painting in some form or another. That's
when I thought 'why don't I combine the two' and that's
where my love of drawing pet portraits and animal art truly began.
Using a combination of soft and pencil pastels, I create highly detailed and soulful portraits that reflect the personality and capture the essence of each animal I draw. From playful dogs and elegant cats to majestic horses and gentle cows, I try to bring each subject to life.
